As 2025 draws to a close, AIS Environment looks back on a year of remarkable milestones, meaningful collaborations, and continued progress in driving sustainable development across Malta. With each initiative, our commitment to environmental excellence and innovation has strengthened, and the year has offered plenty of reasons to celebrate.
The year began on a promising note in January with a landmark agreement with The Malta Chamber, establishing a strategic collaboration to champion sustainable business practices across the island. This partnership set the tone for 2025, reflecting AIS Environment’s dedication to integrating sustainability at the heart of Malta’s business community.
In February, AIS Environment took centre stage at Sustainability LIVE, Malta’s premier sustainability conference. Our team shared insights on effective sustainability leadership, showcasing how evidence-based strategies and innovative approaches can guide organisations towards a greener and more resilient future. This engagement highlighted our role not only as consultants but as thought leaders shaping Malta’s sustainability discourse.
Throughout the year, AIS Environment’s work also featured prominently in the national media, reflecting the relevance and impact of our environmental assessments on major national projects. One notable example was our role in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the extension of the St Julian’s Waterpolo Club, a project that attracted public and regulatory attention and was reported by Times of Malta following ERA’s approval of the development. The project demonstrated how rigorous environmental assessment can support responsible community and sports infrastructure development in sensitive coastal locations.
Our expertise was also central to projects of national strategic importance, including the proposed Magħtab recycling plant, which is expected to process up to 70,000 tonnes of waste annually by 2030. Coverage by MaltaToday highlighted the scale and environmental significance of the project, reinforcing AIS Environment’s role in supporting Malta’s transition towards improved waste management and circular economy solutions.
In addition, AIS Environment contributed to another milestone for Malta’s blue economy through its involvement in the country’s first deep-water fish farm, a project that was placed under the spotlight by Times of Malta. This assignment showcased our experience in assessing complex marine and offshore developments, balancing innovation in aquaculture with the protection of marine ecosystems.
June marked a truly special occasion as AIS Environment celebrated its 30th Anniversary. Three decades of service offered a moment to reflect on our journey—from pioneering environmental assessments to advising businesses and policymakers on complex ecological challenges. The celebrations were a tribute to the dedication of our team, our valued clients, and our partners who have supported us throughout this journey.
In November, AIS Environment took a leading role in convening Malta’s top decision-makers at the national conference “Navigating Development and Growth in a Constrained Island”, organised by The Malta Chamber. The conference addressed pressing challenges such as population growth, urbanisation, and environmental pressures, with our experts presenting data-driven insights and advocating for sustainable, capacity-led development. Our contributions reinforced AIS Environment’s position as a key voice in national conversations on responsible growth and long-term resilience.
Looking back, 2025 has been a year of both celebration and leadership. AIS Environment has continued to expand its impact—not only through project delivery, but also through national dialogue and media engagement—guiding businesses, policymakers, and communities towards solutions that balance economic prosperity with environmental stewardship.
