PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Marsa Junction Project included the development of a new multi-level intersection to replace the Addolorata traffic lights system. The project included 12 kilometres of new uninterrupted lanes, grade-separated at three levels. This resulted in creating direct northbound and southbound connections between Triq Aldo Moro, Vjal Sir Paul Boffa, Vjal Santa Lucija, Triq Giuseppe Garibaldi and Triq il-Marsa (to Qormi).
REQUEST
AIS Environment carried out the Environmental Monitoring for the Project. This consisted of an analysis on air quality and ecology, noise monitoring, tree permits and archaeological monitoring.

our input
The site inspections carried out during the Environmental Monitoring of the project focused on four main areas: general construction site practices, air quality, ecology and noise monitoring.
AIS Environment continued to carry out regular site inspections. During this phase a monitor walked through the entire site and whilst doing so the monitor took note of any cases of non-compliance for which remedial action needed to be taken. In the cases of non-compliance, the issues were discussed with the project managers, the contractor and competent authorities to ensure that they were tackled promptly.
AIS also played a key role in monitoring the pruning, transplanting, planting and uprooting of trees as authorized and permitted by the competent authorities.
