Project Background

AIS Environment is undertaking the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and a suite of supporting environmental and technical studies for the proposed Ta’ Qali Sports Complex development. The project comprises a comprehensive sports and rehabilitation village designed to strengthen Malta’s national sporting infrastructure while integrating environmental and planning considerations into the proposed development.

The proposed development includes a rehabilitation clinic together with a multi-purpose sports village featuring a full-size rugby pitch, a half-size scrum training pitch, two full-size football pitches, a sprint track, six tennis courts, 12 padel tennis courts, and an indoor sports complex.

AIS Environment was commissioned to prepare the Planning Design Statement (PDS), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA), including traffic counts, and an Appropriate Assessment (AA) for the proposed Ta’ Qali Sports Complex development.

The assessments are being carried out to evaluate the potential environmental and social impacts associated with the proposed sports and rehabilitation facilities, while supporting the planning and permitting process through a multidisciplinary environmental approach.

– Landscape character and visual amenity, including 3D modelling and photomontages
– Geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology and soils
– Ecology (terrestrial and birds)
– Agricultural land
– Architectural, archaeological, historical and cultural heritage

– Exterior lighting
– Infrastructure and utilities
– Public access
– Environmental risk
– Population and human health
– Waste management

Results

Ongoing environmental and technical assessments are currently being undertaken as part of the planning and environmental permitting process for the proposed Ta’ Qali Sports Complex development. The project remains in the assessment and design phase.
